Overview
This programme will prepare graduates for employment in the extensive pharmaceutical, biomedical and healthcare sectors in Ireland. Many opportunities also exist in the area of environmental protection, food quality and safety, the regulatory agencies and research.
Discover how medicines are produced by genetically altered bacteria. Learn how to manage quality systems which ensure that these revolutionary medicines are safe – to the user and the environment. Improve on the design of diagnostic kits used to detect viruses in the blood supply.
This programme extends and develops the depth of understanding, competence and awareness of students in the main areas of analytical science, biochemical and microbiological analysis and quality management. It encompasses new and developing technologies such as biotechnology, genetic engineering and biopharmaceutical science. It improves and extends your supervisory, organisational and managerial potential and enables the student to obtain well-paid, responsible positions in industry.
Career opportunities
Graduates are prepared for employment in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological and food industries and in the area of quality control of starting materials, in-process and finished products.
Many graduates have progressed to employment in supervisory, organisational and managerial capacities within industry and some have obtained employment as technical sales representatives in related industries.
